History
Chelsea was founded on 10 March 1905 at The Rising Sun pub, opposite the present-day main entrance to the ground on Fulham Road, and were elected to the Football League shortly afterwards. They won their first major honour, the League Championship, in 1955.
Chelsea enjoyed a successful period in the 1960s, winning the FA Cup in 1965, 1970 and 1971, and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1971 and 1972. They won their first European trophy, the UEFA Europa League, in 2013, and their first UEFA Champions League title in 2012.
