Bailey Ober was born on October 14, 1999, in Waukee, Iowa. She grew up in a family of athletes and was introduced to basketball at a young age. Her parents, Todd and Lisa Ober, both played college basketball, and her older brother, Ryan, played college baseball.
Ober attended Waukee High School, where she played basketball for four years. During her senior year, she led her team to a 5A state championship and was named the state’s player of the year.
After graduating from Waukee High School, Ober decided to continue her basketball career at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She was heavily recruited by several schools but ultimately chose Drake because of its strong basketball program and academic reputation.
College Career
Ober’s college career got off to a strong start during her freshman year. She played in all 31 games and started in 18 of them. She averaged 7.2 points per game and was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team.
In her sophomore year, Ober’s game continued to improve. She started in all 31 games and led the team in scoring with an average of 16.5 points per game. She was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and was also named to the All-MVC First Team.
